TILLY - FH Ayres extra carved circa 1890 - SOLD
Tilly is a fabulous extra carved Ayres. She has been overpainted at some point. She retains some of her original brass rosettes whch will be retained and re-used once she has been restored.
Her stand is original as are her brackets. Once restored she will be a superb rocking horse and a fantastic investment. On removing the old gesso, Tilly has a number 6 carved in to her forehead. The reason for this being found on some Ayres of that erea, is unknown. It is believed that it could be the number allocated to the carver who worked for F H Ayres.
